Instructor: Seng Mah
Venue: Venture Photography Studios, Suite 5, 133 High Street, Fremantle
Maximum participants: 8

This workshop is dedicated to exploring how we shape the human body with light, using a technique perfected by the Italian and Dutch masters such as Caravaggio and Rembrandt.

“Chiaroscuro” is the shaping of form by creating a strong tonal contrast between light and dark. We will be creating form by shaping the way light falls on the human body, emphasising the interplay of light and shadow in sculpting the human figure.

Join us and explore this dramatic and unique approach to lighting under the tutelage and direction from Seng Mah of Venture Photography Workshops. You’ll be shooting with a female and male model so that we can explore the way we use shadow and light to sculpt the masculine and feminine figure.

Learn about lighting and posing for the light and come away with great black and white images that dramatise the human form. Bring some drinks and snacks to share and get into the creative mindset at this event!

Part live art modeling and part photo shoot, this is a great opportunity to get into fine art nude photography in a friendly, relaxed and supportive environment. Beginners are welcome; we’ll help you set your camera up for shooting!

Places are limited only to 8 photographers, to keep the relaxed and easy-going atmosphere. Book in early to avoid missing out.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • DSLR or Mirrorless Camera.
  • Zoom lens in the 70-200mm range (if using a full frame camera; for crop frame cameras, in the 50 – 135mm range). Fast lenses (f2.8 – f4.0) recommended.
