Join us in Bali and level up your photography at our five-day Bali Photography Workshop. We will be based in beautiful Sanur, away from the hustle and bustle of crowded Bali hotspots like Kuta and Legian, but with access to the beach and to the beautiful rural hinterland of Bali — our photographic destinations during the five days!

This multi-day workshop is designed for photographers who love shooting across a range of genres, or who want to learn more about particular photographic genres. Across the five days, you will be capturing portraits, landscapes, streets, markets, temples, travel, documentary and more! You’ll learn how to look for light, to compose with intent, to shoot long exposures, to frame and shoot portraits and to shoot travel/street images in thriving marketplaces. We’re covering a lot in these five days!

We are collaborating with local Bali photographers to give you access to people, places and shoots! It’s a photographic experience not to be missed!

What are the highlights of this multi-day workshop? How about these:

  • Sunrise shoot at Sanur with boats and a local fisherman.
  • Waterfalls in the Bali hinterland (we’ll avoid “Instagram” locations so that we won’t have crowds of “influencers” disrupting our views).
  • Sunrise at the rice fields and rice terraces of Bali.
  • A traditional Aga village, home of the indigenous people of Bali, for portrait photography.
  • Legong dancers portrait shoot.
  • Photographing the Sanghyang Sacred Dance of Horses – a private concept shoot organised just for us.
  • Pura Tirta Empul – the Water Temple, for long exposures and photography of locals attending the cleansing ceremony.
  • High speed, fast action photography with the young men and boys of Tukad Unda.
  • Village markets for street, travel and people photography.
  • Candi Gunung Kawi – an ancient temple complex set into cliffs and surrounded by rice field.
  • The famous Tanah Lot temple at sunrise.

Plus, we will have a couple of image review and editing sessions, so that you receive valuable feedback and commentary on your images, and learn ways of enhancing your images through editing and post-processing (you’ll need Lightroom Classic and a laptop to participate in these sessions).

Places in this workshop are reserved for up to 8 photographers.

Reviews by Workshop Attendees

Seng’s Bali Worksop was an incredible experience, offering a diverse range of shooting scenarios from vibrant markets to serene landscapes and cultural portraits. The guidance was top-notch, blending technical skill with creative inspiration in every session. I left feeling inspired, more confident behind the camera, and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to elevate their photography. (Adrian Hall)

I really loved the Bali workshop with Seng. In a word it was FUN! Even if you’ve been to Bali a hundred times you cannot get these types of images on holiday. Each location and scene was very well coordinated and this made it impossible not to come away with amazing photos! I’d highly recommend this unique experience. (Leeanne Willows)

Thank you Seng for the best photography experience I’ve had. Your experience, guidance and friendship has been a highlight for me and hopefully more to come in the future. (Brian Thompson)

I’ve visited Bali several times, and when a last-minute chance to join the Venture Photography 5-day workshop in Bali came up, I jumped at it. The workshop immersed us in the beauty of Balinese beaches, waterfalls, countryside, markets, and villages, using a variety of photography styles to capture the island’s essence. Each day began early and was packed with breathtaking shoots, making the experience dynamic and energizing. Seng’s inclusive teaching style catered perfectly to our group of eight photographers, fostering growth and confidence in each of us. Throughout the workshop, we explored seascapes, landscapes, waterscapes, action, portraiture, documentary, and street photography capturing the essence of Bali. I returned home with some stunning images, and unforgettable memories. The highlights for me were meeting the Balinese people—capturing moments of their vibrant, peaceful culture, and connecting with the Seng and the workshop participants over some delicious local food. I highly recommend an adventure in Bali with Seng Mah to anyone who enjoys travelling and photography. (Carolyn Toleman)

I attended the Bali Workshop with Venture in June 25.  It was my first tour with Seng and it certainly won’t be my last.  I found Seng to be very approachable, extremely knowledgeable , informative and patient.  He’s an  excellent  teacher who  ensures we have the correct camera settings.  Doing this workshop was the best thing I have done and I learnt a lot.  I’ve come away feeling very happy and a lot more confident. Well done Seng and thank you for sharing your immense knowledge. For anyone wanting to up their photography skills I highly recommend Seng Mah. (Liz Smith)

I always associated Bali with Bingtang and Bogans! Was I wrong! Seng showed us such a beautiful side of Bali I loved my few days with him on the Bali Workshop in June 2025. From the fisherman at sunrise casting their nets, to the boys playing in the waterfall at the dam, to the water temple, waterfalls and paddy fields, the stunning Legong Dancers, the markets and my  personal favourite, The Sacred Horse Dance. Seng not only got us to the right place at the right time and refreshingly for a photography trip was great with help and advice. With recommendations on the right lens to use at different places, advice on settings, slow shutter speeds, filters etc everyone came away with stunning photos. Also have to point out Seng has  a great sense of humour, is easy to get on with and loves cats! (and flowery shirts and Legong dancer’s flowers in his hair!) (Katie Hustler)

A series of focussed workshops that helped me capture some of the traditional activities that Bali offers. I enjoyed photographing locals in various locations, both at play and at work, whilst gaining a better understanding of Balinese culture.  Early starts to ensure uninterrupted access at popular locations together with exclusive late afternoon shoots, allowed plenty of time for casual photo walks in the streets and beaches around Sanur. As usual, Seng was on hand to provide much welcomed guidance and encouragement throughout the workshops.  All in all, another great experience with Venture Photography. Thank you Seng. (Peter Baughan)

If you are considering a photographic trip to Bali, then look no further than Seng’s Venture Photography Bali Workshop. In the 2025 workshop, each and every morning, afternoon and evening was filled with awe-inspiring places, people and events. Early morning starts are the norm, but, oh, the sunrises and the sights are worth getting out of bed early for. And then there are the sunset shoots on the beach and the boys at the dam (fab-u-lous!) and more! A never-ending cacophony of exciting moments packed into 5 days, and so well supported by the master himself, Seng! (Isobel Pearson)

I just finished an epic five day workshop with Venture Photography in Bali that covered many styles of shooting… creative, landscapes, seascapes, portraits and street photography. It was well executed and a wonderful workshop to add unique images to my portfolio. (Melissa Haslam)

The Bali Photography Workshops is so worth doing. Not only do you get to photograph and see activities that you would not normally experience, but you are also being given knowledgeable assistance and information to improve and learn. Well worth attending. (Bev Dawkins)

This workshop far exceeded my expectations. Every moment was filled with energy, beauty, and inspiration. One of the most unforgettable moments for me was the Sanghyang Sacred Horse Dance. The atmosphere felt almost otherworldly, with beams of sunlight piercing through the smoke, creating dramatic patterns that made our portrait session feel like a dream. Then came the grand finale — the water-throwing boys at Tukad Unda Dam. Standing ankle-deep in the river, I could hardly contain my excitement. With every splash, pose, and leap into the deeper waters, the boys created a joyful energy that made for stunning, dynamic photos. If you’re looking for an unforgettable photography adventure, don’t miss Seng’s epic workshop in 2026. It’s an experience you’ll treasure forever. (Irma Ferreira)
