Fremantle Sea Shanty Photo Hunt

Level: All
Date: Saturday 10 January 2026
Time: 4pm – 6pm
Price: $15
Location: Fremantle

Yo ho ho, shiver your timbers and raise your cutlasses lassies and laddies! Get ready for a photographic treasure hunt with a difference! Search the streets and harbours of Fremantle for photographic treasures, and be guided by 12 sea shanties that will reveal clues about what to shoot and where to find them.

Kick off 2026 with a photo walk that will get you walking, thinking and snapping. Armed with your camera, mid-range zoom lens (eg. 24-70mm, 24-105mm and their crop frame equivalent), you’ll be wandering the harbours and sidelanes of Old Freo in search of photo treasures.

Our meeting point is at the Esplanade Park on Marine Terrace (the area opposite the Esplanade Hotel) at 4pm. After an overview and the dispensation of the shanties, you can then choose to search for these treasures in small groups or on your own — whatever takes your fancy.

We then wrap up at our meeting point again at 6pm and for those who would like to partake in some liquid piracy, we shall sally forth to a local dockside tavern to celebrate.

If you would like to form your own crew (aka team), make sure that all team members get a ticket.

Alternatively, attend the treasure hunt and we can put you in with a crew of treasure seekers.

Or just search for buried photographic treasure on your own!
