One Light Portraits

Date: 10 August 2019
Time: 2pm – 4pm
Cost: $99

Location: Digidirect Cannington (12 Cecil Avenue, Cannington)
Maximum participants: 12

Supported by Digidirect Cannington

This workshop is all about the KISS principle – “Keep It Simply Simple” – and focuses on how you can light and shoot amazing portraits using only a single light source (plus a reflector, where required).

Using a single light source can help sculpt face, form and figure, as well as create drama when leveraged the right way. In this mini-workshop, you’ll learn how to work the height, angle, placement and size of your single light in order to create a variety of different portrait styles — from flattering portraits to evocative and moody ones.

Come and join Seng Mah and Digidirect for an afternoon that’s all about the Power of One — One Light, that is!

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
  • Your interchangeable lens camera (DSLR or mirrorless).
  • One or more lenses prime or telephoto lenses — for full frames, we recommend at least a 50mm prime lens; for crop frames (APS-C) a 35mm prime lens. For micro-four-third cameras, at least 25mm. We recommend fast lenses too (lenses that can open their apertures to f/2.8 or wider).
  • Make sure your battery is fully charged (bring a spare if you have one) and that you have a clean memory card to start.

You don’t need to bring a tripod to this workshop.
Places in this workshop are limited to 12 photographers. You know what to do if you don’t want to miss out.
