Tour Highlights

Day 1: Sand Dune Adventures and Jurien Bay
Lancelin dunes
Lancelin Dunes

You’ll be picked up from our meeting point in Perth and travel in the comfort of our coaster bus to Lancelin (about 2.5 hours), where you’ll have the opportunity to photograph the epic sand dunes there. Lunch is in Lancelin, after which we transfer to Jurien Bay on the Turquoise Coast of Western Australia. Sunset photography is at Sandy Cape, a beautiful arch of turquoise sea framed by sandhills and limestone headland.

Day 2: Jurien Bay to Kalbarri
Jurien Bay Jetty

We shoot the sunrise at the old remnants of the Jurien Bay Jetty, after which we return for breakfast and to check out of out hotel. We depart Jurien Bay for Kalbarri with several stops along the way to photograph the wind-blown trees near Greenough and grab lunch in Geraldton. En route to Kalbarri, we have a photographic stop at Punk Lake in Port Gregory. The pink hue of the lake is caused by carotenoid-producing algae Dunaliella salina in the water and depending on time and season, the pink hues can be red, pink or a light purple!

We arrive in Kalbarri in the late afternoon for a quick check-in before departing for a sunset shoot at Kalbarri National Park and Nature’s Window.

Day 3: Kalbarri

Nature's WindowKalbarri Gorge

Our visit to Kalbarri is all about the stunning red rock gorges carved out by the Murchison River. In the morning, we again photograph Nature’s Window in Kalbarri National Park for a different view of the landscape lit by sunrise, followed by a visit to the new Kalbarri Skywalk to soak in the endless views of the gorges lit by the morning sun.

Much of the day in Kalbarri will be spent exploring the rugged coastline where tall cliffs plunge into surging waves.

In the late afternoon and into sunset, we visit the Z-Bend in Kalbarri National Park to photograph the remarkable curves of the Murchison River deep within the gorge below.

Day 4: Kalbarri, Houtman Abrolhos Islands, Pink Lake Scenic Flight

Pink Lake AerialAbrolhos Islands

We kick off the day with a sunrise shoot at Jacques Point, a rugged stretch of coastline that showcases tides spilling over coastal rocks.

After breakfast, we embark on a grand scenic flight that takes in the coastal cliffs, Houtman-Abrolhos Islands and Pink Lake from the air. The Abrolhos Island is a chain of 122 islands surrounded by the clear and sparkling waters of the Indian Ocean.

On return to Kalbarri, we stop for a light lunch before heading to Cervantes.

Day 5: Cervantes and the Pinnacles
Pinnacles AstroPinnacles

We depart Kalbarri for Cervantes on the Turquoise Coast, gateway to the Pinnacles Desert. We will be shooting sunset at the Pinnacles Desert and, weather permitting, may also partake of some astro photography at the Pinnacles too (weather permitting).

Day 6: Sand dunes at sunrise, and return to Perth

Ice cream dunes sunrise

The final day of the tour starts early as we head to the Ice-Cream Dunes (about 30 minutes from Cervantes) to photograph the sunrise there. The light of the rising sun on the gentle slopes of the sandy dunes give these dunes its name as the soft, white sand resembles mounds of ice-cream in the light. We return to Cervantes for breakfast before checking out and returning to Perth.
