Discover an Italy that will inspire and ignite your passion for travel photography in our Cinque Terre – Tuscany Photographic Expedition! This is a photography tour that takes you from majestic Florence to the magnificent Cinque Terre and deep into the verdant heart of rural Tuscany, where you will feast both your eyes and your taste buds.

We’ve partnered with Italian travel agency, Walk About Italy, to take you on a photography tour like no other. You’ll embark on this tour as travelers and photographers, not tourists, as we take you to some of the most amazing places you will see. You’ll travel in comfort to off-the-beaten-path places, and receive tutoring and guidance in the art of travel and landscape photography.

We’ll be joined by professional guide and guru of authentic Italian experiences, Gianni Stanghellini. Gianni is an English-speaking native Italian guide, who will be sharing his knowledge of Italian culture, history and lifestyle with us! We’ll take you on a trip that will revive your sense of adventure and wonder. It won’t take long before you’re exclaiming “Molto Bello!” as you view the turrets and domes of Florence, the cliffside villages of the Cinque Terre or the rolling hills of Val Dorcia.

This is a photo tour with a difference – we will give you guidance and expert photographic advice and will assist you with pre-tour preparation when it comes to photographic equipment to bring with you on tour. We want you to go home with outstanding photographs of some of the most inspiring places in Italy!

WHERE WILL YOU VENTURE?

Florence

  • Shoot in the streets and piazzas of Florence, city of the Medicis, where art is everywhere!
  • Explore the Palazzo Vecchio and scale to the heights of the Torre Vecchio to shoot the Florentine skyline at sunset.
  • Take classical landscapes of the River Arno, looking towards the Ponte Vecchio – the Golden Bridge.

Cinque Terre

  • Shoot the magnificent cliffside villages of Manarola, Vernazza and Riomaggiore.
  • Trek along the Sentiero Azzura, the trail that winds its way along the majestic coastline of the region.
  • Learn how to shoot for panoramas — these scenes are often too vast and too grand to be captured in a single frame!

The Chianti

  • Stay in a medieval Italian castle, complete with monastery and chapel!
  • Drink wine from the region, then hike and shoot the picturesque landscape of vineyards, olive groves and quaint villages of the Chianti at sunrise and sunset.
  • Learn to cook authentic Italian dishes and dine in a trattoria owned by a boisterous Italian mamma!

Citta del Tufo

  • Explore the ancient Via Cava – a network of roads carved into the tufo rock by the ancient Etruscans.
  • Visit and photograph the remarkable medieval hill towns of Pitigliano and Sorano.
  • Stay in an ancient medieval fortress deep in the heart of Sorano.

Val Dorcia

  • Discover this region of classic Tuscan landscapes – hills and vales, hilltop homesteads and winding trails fringed by cypress trees.
  • Enjoy Brunello, Italy’s most exclusive wine, and visit the remarkable vineyards where it is produced.
  • Visit the Abbadia San’Antimo, a medieval abbey, and hear Gregorian chanting by its monks.
  • Embark on a photographic exploration of Montefollonico, a hilltop town famous for its walls of fired brick and narrow, winding alleyways.

… and more!

YOUR GUIDES

Seng Gianni

Seng Mah

That’s me! I’ll be your photography guide on this tour, bringing my experiences in running photography workshops to help you learn while you shoot the magnificent landscapes of Italy. I’ll be showing you how to look for the light, to find the magic in detail, to compose and to work your images in post-production into works of art! I met Gianni on a trip to Italy and discovered that we had a mutual interest in beautiful landscapes, photography and (perhaps more tragically) cats! I was inspired to put this tour together with Gianni in order to give Aussie photographers the opportunity to visit these beautiful locations and to photograph them in the right light.

Gianni Stanghellini

Gianni is a native Sienese and a certified guide for country tours and hikes. He is a passionate hiker and leads hiking tours in the Chianti, Val Dorcia, Piedmont, Sicily and other remarkable regions in Italy through his businesses, Walk About Tuscany and Walk About Italy. Gianni brings substantial knowledge of off-the-beaten-track Italy to this tour and will be leading us on many adventures through the sun-baked landscapes of Tuscany and the Cinque Terre. He is also an accomplished flautist and guitarist, and is a dab hand at cooking. Gianni has organised the most amazing, authentic photographic expedition for you – you’ll be staying in charming historical buildings (a castle, a fortess, a palazzo!) and will be exploring places that conventional tour groups will never visit!
