“Advanced Studio Lighting” is perfect for photographers who are familiar with studio photography but would like to learn more about creative lighting effects and work with up to 4 lights in a fully kitted, professional studio environment.

In this workshop, we take creative lighting to the next level and start working with high-key and low-key lighting, gels and a range of different lighting modifiers and their effects. We will also deal with the challenges of lighting in a studio environment and how you can troubleshoot these challenges.

We have teamed up with River Road Studios in Bayswater to provide this workshop for photographers who would like to get into studio photography but feel daunted by the cost of lighting equipment and the challenges of setting up your own studio space. River Road Studios is a fully kitted photography studio that is available for hire by the public. The Studios is offering a “3 for 2? special, where you can book the studio for 3 hours and pay for only 2 hours (this includes 30 minutes of support from River Road Studio staff). It’s a great way to learn studio photography and then get started by doing your own shoot in a professional studio!

What you’ll learn:

  • Setting up and using 3-point lighting.
  • Using light fall off for creative effects.
  • Subject vs background lighting.
  • Using kicker/rim lighting (4 light set up).
  • Lighting for a white background (high key).
  • Creating low key lighting.
  • Using gels for creative colour in the studio.
  • Photographing movement/motion with studio lights.
