For all you budding landscape photographers, this is a weekend workshop not to be missed!
Join Greg Perry, David Nicholls and Seng Mah for a weekend workshop dedicated to the art and techniques of landscape photography.
With the magnificent coastal vistas of the Western Australian South West for inspiration, we will be exploring the landscape with the view of developing your creative skills in photographing landscapes.
Learn how to expose, compose and shoot the light at five unique locations in the South West:
- Shelley Cove at Bunker Bay (dawn)
- Sugarloaf Rock (morning)
- Boranup Forest (afternoon)
- Wyadup Rocks/Injidup Beach and the coastal waterfall (late afternoon)
- Canal Rocks (sunrise)
Find out what accessories you need to photograph landscapes and learn how to use them effectively. A session dedicated to post-processing with Photoshop will give you the skills and knowledge to transform your captured images into a works of art. Enjoy the camaraderie with a group of photographers — there’ll be plenty of laughs and learning opportunities!
What you will learn:
- Composing the landscape.
- Exposure options for shooting landscapes.
- Photographing the light (dawn, daylight and dusk).
- Capturing long exposures with neutral density (ND) filters.
- Using exposure bracketing to create high dynamic range (HDR) landscape images.
- Controlling glare and saturating colour with circular polarising filters.
- Tone mapping high dynamic range images.
- Creating panoramic stitches.
- Dodging and burning to create dramatic landscapes.
What you will need:
- Your digital SLR camera.
- Lenses with focal length covering wide angle to moderate telephoto (15mm to 150mm)
- Sturdy tripod.
- Remote release cable.
- Polarising filter.
- Neutral density (ND) filter (ND4, ND8 and/or NDx400).
- Camera bag that is easy to carry around (backpack or sling).
- Spare batteries, charger and memory cards.
- Laptop or notebook computer.
- Plastic bag to protect camera gear from rain and salt spray (large freezer bags work well).
- Warm clothing.
- Sturdy, comfortable shoes suited for traversing uneven surfaces.

The fine print:
- The workshop fee includes twin share motel accommodation for two nights at Dunsborough Central Motel. A single supplement is available for participants who would like their own room.
- You will need to organise your own travel to and from the photographic locations. A meet-and-greet will be held at the Dunsborough Central Motel at 8pm on Friday night where you will be briefed on the weekend’s details.
- You will need to cover the cost of your own meals.
- The workshop organisers reserve the right to change venue and locations during the workshop (subject to weather, access and availability)
Safety first:
- You are fully responsible for your own safety and the safety of your equipment during the workshop, and should always observe your own health and safety first.
- Some photographic excursions may require physical travel on uneven surfaces such as trails and across rocky and sometimes slippery surfaces. You will need a reasonable level of mobility and fitness to participate.
- Each participant will be required to sign an indemnity form at the beginning of the workshop.
