Winter Light and Architecture Photo Walk

Date: Saturday 11 July 2026
Duration: 10.30am – 12noon
Price: $12.50
Maximum participants: 25
Location: Yagan Square

Note: This event will run even if the weather is a little wet — we will be capturing images of Winter in Perth, after all. In the event that the weather is completely inclement (heavy rain, a deluge), this event will be cancelled and tickets refunded.

This event is for lovers of light and architecture…

Join us as we look for light and shadows in the new architectural marvels of the City — particularly around Yagan Square, which sports the new ECU Perth building, and at the Perth Arena.

Contemporary architecture presents opportunities for design-oriented photography. And the unique light that Winter provides helps us craft and create images that combine abstraction with drama!

Discover how to expose for highlights and make use of contrast and negative space in composition. A meetup also gives us the opportunity to meet fellow photographers, sharpen your eye, and challenge yourself to capture images that go beyond surface appearances.

This event is perfect for photographers of all skill levels — all you need is your camera and a lens that allows you to “zoom in” on detail. In photographic parlance, we’re looking at lenses that can cover the 50mm – 200mm focal length (full frame equivalent).

Recommended equipment:

  • Your camera and similar image-capturing device. Smartphones and analogue cameras are welcome!
  • Lenses in the 50 – 200mm rane.
  • Fully charged camera/smartphone battery.
  • Memory card for digital cameras.

Refund settings

There are no refunds available for this event if you choose to cancel your reservation, as it is a small photowalk. It this event is cancelled by the organiser, then a full refund will be issued. Please consider this before deciding to reserve a place in this event.
