Capturing a STUNNING image of a bird in flight can be immensely satisfying!

In this workshop, learn how you can capture beautiful images of birds in flight that will impress and engage viewers. More than just getting a picture of a bird against a blue sky, this workshop is all about learning how to use the light, choosing the setting, and using environmental assets such as water to capture reflected light and add drama and interest to your images.

Join Diana Andersen at Tomato Lake during the golden hour to learn the principles of capturing birds in flight using light to make the ordinary more extraordinary.


WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
  • Assessing the wildlife scene and choosing your location based on light.
  • How to choose appropriate aperture, shutter and ISO settings.
  • Exposing for the lightest part of your subject.
  • The different types and uses of exposure metering modes.
  • Shooting action/moving subjects by using continuous focus modes.
  • Selecting single or small group focus points to track your subject.
  • Shooting angles to enhance the impact of your images.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED
  • Your interchangeable lens camera.
  • Preferable telephoto/zoom lens between 200mm and 600mm, the longer the better.
  • The manual for your camera..
  • Notebook and a pen.
  • A towel or mat to sit or lay on.
  • This workshop is suitable for digital cameras with manual controls (P, A/Av, S/Tv and M modes) including DSLRs and interchangeable lens mirrorless cameras.

If government mandates require the wearing of masks, you will need to wear a mask for the duration of this workshop. To ensure the health and safety of all customers and instructors, we will also only accept bookings from customers who have had their full vaccination (digital vaccination certificate will be viewed on attendance). If this event cannot run due to government imposed restrictions, it may be re-scheduled or a refunded (less booking fees).
