Join us for a photo walk with a difference! The “Streets of Freo” event is designed to get you thinking and learning photography while you participate in a photographic treasure hunt in the streets of Fremantle! Armed with a list of photographic instructions and techniques, you’ll embark on a photography tour of Fremantle that will open your eyes to what Freo has to offer photographers!
Come explore this historic port city with us as you discover the streets, lanes and alleyways of Freo – from its classical West End to the hubbub of the Cappucino Strip!
When you sign up for this event, you’ll join a group of photographers with a mission — to shoot specific themes and subjects in Fremantle within the time frame of the event. There’s a difference, however. Each item in the treasure hunt requires you to learn a specific aspect of photography — whether it’s shooting shallow depth of field, or photographing in low light (or bright light), or capturing action, an incidental moment or a particular style/genre of photography — you’ll learn about your camera while also having a load of fun chasing photographic moments!
As with any mission, you’ll be working with your team (you can either form your own team by asking your friends to join in, or we can connect you with other photographers to form a team — a great way to meet new faces and snappers!). It’s a terrific way to connect with like-minded people and to make new friends in the Perth photographic community!
It’s going to be great fun taking part in the treasure hunt and learning some new skills along the way!

WHAT YOU WILL NEED
- Your DSLR or similar interchangeable lens cameras. Compact cameras are also suitable.
- Good walking shoes (as you’ll be footing it around Freo).
- Sun, sunscreen, hat, bottle of water.
