Back in the Swim – The Australand Coogee Jetty-to-Jetty
The Australand Coogee Jetty to Jetty Swim is back for 2010 – on Sunday 7th March – and I’ll be there to cover it for organisers Cockburn Masters Swimming Club.
This ocean swim, held on the 1st Sunday in March following the Labour Day long weekend, has proven a popular part of the annual Open Water Swim (OWS) calendar.
Unlike other OWS events, the Jetty-to-Jetty swim takes place in the clear sheltered waters between Coogee Beach and Woodman Point, making it perfect for swimmers of all levels and ages.
The event kicks off with a 1,500m walk along the beach (or 750m for the less ambitious) and then a swim back.
The Jetty-to-Jetty swim is a real family events, with mums, dads, kids and grandparents donning their budgies and cossies, and dipping their toes into the crisp and serene waters of Cockburn Sound.
Here are some photos from last year’s swim. See you at Coogee Beach on Sunday morning, 7th March!
